As a result of the successful development by FRS of a high-speed zoned sprinkler system for the protection of high-racked storages, two systems designed specifically with commercial requirements in mind, were purchased from two British sprinkler manufacturers. Nineteen full scale fire experiments were conducted using one or other of these systems and the results showed that both were very effective in controlling fires within high-racked storages, limiting fire, water and smoke damage to a minimum.
