THE EFFECT OF LAURYL PENTACHLORPHENOL TREATMENT ON THE RESISTANCE OF UNLINED CANVAS FIRE HOSE TO ATTACK BY FUNGI

Thomas, P.H., Gordon, J.A. and Fittes, D.W., 1955. THE EFFECT OF LAURYL PENTACHLORPHENOL TREATMENT ON THE RESISTANCE OF UNLINED CANVAS FIRE HOSE TO ATTACK BY FUNGI. Fire Research Notes 158

ABSTRACT

An investigation has been made to determine the effect of lauryl pentachlorphenol on the resistance to mildewing of unlined canvas fire hose. The tests were performed on hose obtained from four manufacturers. The treatment had no detrimental effect on the bursting strength or rate of percolation of the hose. Resistance of treated hose to attack by Chaetomium globosum and Aspergillus niger showed a marked improvement over untreated hose.
