THE USE OF WATER IN FIRE-FIGHTING

Nash, P. and Rasbash, D.J., 1955. THE USE OF WATER IN FIRE-FIGHTING. Fire Research Notes 202

ABSTRACT

Experiments are described relating to the use of water, in the form of jets, sprays or foam, in the extinction of fires in both solids and liquids. It is shown that there is a critical rate of application of water below which extinction cannot take place. The effect of various factors on critical rate and on the quantity of the water used to extinguish the fire is discussed.
