Lawson, D.I., Thomas, P.H. and Simms, D.L., 1955. THE THERMAL PROPERTIES OF SKIN. Fire Research Notes 224
ABSTRACT
An apparatus for the study of burns to the human forearm by contact with a heated disk and the theory of the method are described. From some preliminary experiments a mean value of skin thermal conductivity was obtained as 1.5 x 10^-3 c.g.s. units. There is some evidence that restricting the blood circulation may reduce the effective conductivity by about 20 per cent.
