An analysis has been made of the reports of the 118 fires which occurred in certain stores during 1960 and 1961. Most of the fires reported were small and were dealt with by the store personnel; in many cases the Fire Brigade was called only as a precautionary measure. Among the results shown by this survey perhaps the most notable was that most of the fires did not originate in either the sales or stock rooms , but in staff rooms.
