Langford, B. and Elkins, G.H., 1964. TESTING OF THATCHED ROOF PANELS COVERED WITH CEMENT SLURRY. Fire Research Notes 565
ABSTRACT
A method of reducing the fire hazard of the thatched roof in tropical countries by covering the surface of the roof with a thin layer of cement slurry has been described elsewhere. This layer varies between 1/4 in and 1/2 in thick, the mixture being 4 parts sand to 1 part cement. The thatch panels constructed in this manner were weathered for 18 months and then tested according to a modified BS 476: Part 3 test.
