The zone model FIRST was applied for studying the smoke filling process in atria. A total number of 972 simulations with different geometry of the atria, the heat release rate of fires and the plume models were performed. Atria classified into three types as cubic, flat and high with volumes varying from 2000 m3 to 30000 m3 were considered. Five steady burning fires of peak heat release rate from 1 to 5 MW and four unsteady t2 -fires were used together with four plume models reported in literature.
