A fire field model Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) version 3.10 will be used to predict the rise time of free buoyant plume front in this paper. Numerical simulations were on configurations same as a set of full-scale burning tests carried out recently in a big atrium. Track of the plume front was deduced from â€˜sudden temperature riseâ€™ on the numerical thermocouples. Results show that the rise time of these plume fronts predicted by FDS version 3.10 are slightly shorter than the experimental data.
