ABSTRACT
Two models of portable domestic butane-fired radiant heaters were tested in accordance with B.S. 2773 and B.S. 1945. The heaters failed to comply with a number of clauses essential for safety. If the Standards are to accommodate recent changes in domestic heating trends arising from the use of heaters of the kinds examined here, and also take account of some safety features which do not appear to be sufficiently well covered, some amendments will be necessary.
