The Lgnitability Of Flame Retarded Plastics

Drysdale, D.D. and Thomson, H.E., 1994. The Lgnitability Of Flame Retarded Plastics. Fire Safety Science 4: 195-204. doi:10.3801/IAFSS.FSS.4-195

ABSTRACT

Measurements of the fire point temperature and the critical mass flux of some thermoplastics and their flame retarded modifications have been made. The results may be used to confirm or identify the mode of action of the retardant and provide the opportunity to investigate the effectiveness of the retardant treatment under a range of heat fluxes. They reveal clearly the differences between retardants which act in the gas phase and those which act as inert fillers.
